For his trip to the Congo, Tintin took with him the perfect explorer’s equipment: colonial clothing, camping equipment, film and scientific equipment, medicines and food supplies. The figure is taken from the first edition of Tintin in Congo, page 104 B2. In this box, Hergé shows us a Tintin in all in motion.
The speed lines and the small dust cloud are there to symbolically suggest its course. But at the same time the author makes us feel that his hero is embarrassed by his camera on the shoulder and his shoulder box. For the designers of the figurine, this was the main challenge: modeling the character in motion while suggesting the somewhat gauchedu race to the small reporter, loaded with his heavy material…
